College Coordinator Report

As we come to the end of another busy Term 3, it is a wonderful opportunity to pause and reflect on the many achievements, experiences and milestones that have shaped our college community throughout the term. From classroom learning and assessment to camps, excursions, sporting events, performances and community activities, there has been plenty happening across PBC.
A sincere thank you to our students, staff and families for the energy, commitment and support they continue to bring to our college community.

Celebrating Our Students – Camp Success

One of the highlights of Term 3 has been the opportunity for our students to step outside the classroom and embrace some wonderful camp experiences. Our Year 2, Year 9 and Year 11 students have each approached their camps with enthusiasm, resilience and a wonderful sense of community.
 I had the pleasure of attending our Year 2 camp and seeing firsthand the excitement, courage and enthusiasm of our youngest campers. It was fantastic to watch students challenge themselves, try new things and enjoy the experience alongside their classmates. A special thank you must also go to the parents who generously gave their time to attend and stay overnight. Your involvement helped make the experience even more meaningful for our students, and we greatly appreciate the support you provided.
Our Year 9 students also impressed throughout their camp. We received some wonderful feedback from the camp provider, who specifically highlighted the students’ resilience, enthusiasm and eagerness to participate. These are qualities we love to see in our students, particularly when they are faced with unfamiliar situations or challenges. Their willingness to get involved and keep pushing themselves was a credit to them and to the staff who supported them.
Our Year 11 students provided another particularly proud moment for the college. Following their camp, I received a phone call from the Principal of another school, who happened to be visiting his students at the same time. They went out of their way to commend our students on their behaviour, attitude, respect and overall conduct throughout the camp. Receiving unsolicited feedback of this nature is something we should all be proud of.
It is easy to celebrate academic results and sporting achievements, but moments like these are equally important. The way our students represent themselves, their peers, their families and PBC when they are away from our campus speaks volumes about the culture we are building together.
To our Year 2, Year 9 and Year 11 students — well done. You represented PBC with pride, and we are incredibly proud of you.

Year 12 – The Final Stretch

Our Year 12 students are entering an important stage of their senior schooling journey. With their mock examinations now completed, they have three weeks of formal classes remaining before they move into the final preparation period for their external examinations.
These final weeks of classroom learning are an important opportunity for students to consolidate their knowledge, seek clarification, address areas of uncertainty and make the most of the expertise and support of their teachers.
There is still plenty of work to be done, but there is also much to celebrate. Our Year 12 students have shown considerable resilience, maturity and determination throughout the year, and we are incredibly proud of the way they have continued to rise to the challenges of senior schooling.
As they move towards their final examinations, we encourage our Year 12s to remain focused, organised and balanced. The habits they establish now will serve them well in the weeks ahead. Most importantly, they should remember that they are not undertaking this journey alone — their teachers, families and peers are there to support them every step of the way.

Looking Ahead – Our Year 11 Students

As our Year 12 students begin to approach the conclusion of their schooling, our Year 11 students are preparing to step into greater responsibility within the college.
Their recent camp provided another opportunity for them to demonstrate the qualities we hope to see in our future student leaders. The positive feedback we received about their conduct, respect and attitude is a strong indication that they are ready to embrace the responsibilities that come with leadership.
Leadership is not simply about holding a title. It is demonstrated through the way students conduct themselves, support others and contribute positively to the culture around them. We look forward to seeing our Year 11 students continue to develop these qualities and become strong role models for our younger students.

A Thank You to Our PIPS Team

We would also like to acknowledge and thank our wonderful PIPS (Parents in Partnership) team for their continued contribution to college life.
The work undertaken by our parent community adds so much to the experiences of our students and helps create the strong sense of connection that exists across PBC. From assisting with events and activities to contributing time, ideas and energy behind the scenes, the support of our PIPS team is greatly appreciated.
We are fortunate to have families who are willing to get involved and help make a difference. Thank you for everything you continue to do for our students and our wider college community.

These values extend well beyond the classroom. They are reflected in the way our students treat others, respond to challenges and represent our college in the wider community.
As the year progresses, we encourage all students to continue making positive choices and taking pride in their contribution to our college. Respectful interactions, appropriate behaviour, correct uniform and a commitment to learning remain important expectations for every student.
We thank our families for continuing to reinforce these expectations and for partnering with us in supporting our students to finish the year well.

Looking Towards Term 4

Term 3 has certainly been full, and the final term of the year promises to bring its own collection of opportunities, challenges and celebrations.
For our students, the upcoming break is a chance to step away from the routines of school, spend time with family and friends, and return ready for the final chapter of 2026. 
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff for their continued professionalism, care and commitment throughout another busy term. The work that happens each day in our classrooms and across our college is made possible by staff who consistently put the needs of our students first.
To our students and families, thank you for another productive and rewarding term. I hope the upcoming break provides an opportunity to rest, recharge and enjoy time together.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back for a positive and successful Term 4.

Celebrating a Fantastic Term in Primary

What a fantastic term it has been in Primary! As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding term, it is wonderful to reflect on the many opportunities our students have had to learn, grow, challenge themselves and, most importantly, enjoy being part of our PBC community.

One of the highlights of the term was seeing our youngest primary campers, our Year 3 students and more recently our Year 2 students, take on the challenge of camp. For many students, this was their first experience away from home with their classmates, and they demonstrated such wonderful courage, independence and resilience. Year 2 enthusiastically prepared for camp by being part of our family camp experience here at PBC with a shared camping experience with a parent or carer. There were plenty of new experiences, lots of laughter and many special moments that our students and teachers will remember for a long time.

Our PBC Talent Show was another huge highlight! The incredible talent and enthusiasm displayed by our Primary students made for a wonderful day of entertainment. A huge congratulations to our winners, Lenny and Jude, who wowed the audience with their performance – I’m still not sure if it was science or magic! Thank you to every student who had the courage to get up on stage and share their talents — we were incredibly proud of you all!

We also celebrated the joy of reading during Book Week, with our much-loved Book Week Parade hosted by Miss Tania and providing plenty of colour, creativity and fun. It was wonderful to see students embracing their favourite characters and sharing their love of books with their friends and teachers. A big thank you to our families for the incredible effort that went into the costumes!

Our Prep Transition Program has continued throughout the term, with our future Prep students becoming increasingly familiar with our classrooms, teachers and the wider PBC community. It is always a pleasure to see these little learners growing in confidence as they take each step towards starting school. We have shared Open Classrooms, playgroups, and other special events with our future Prep students.

At the other end of Primary, our Year 6 to 7 Transition Program is also beginning to ramp up. Our Year 6 students are starting to look ahead to this exciting next chapter, with opportunities to become familiar with the Secondary School, meet teachers and begin developing a greater sense of what life in Year 7 will look like.

And while we are only just finishing this term, we are already looking forward to an exciting start to Term 4! Under 8s Day will take place in Week 1, bringing together our Prep to Year 3 students, Kindy friends and future Prep students for a morning of fun, learning and connection. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and celebrate the wonder and curiosity of our youngest learners.

Thank you to our wonderful students, staff and families for making this such a positive and memorable term. There is so much to celebrate in Primary, and I feel incredibly proud of the way our students continue to embrace opportunities, support one another and strive to be their best.

Year 11 Camp Week

This week, our Year 11’s have participated in a Leadership camp and a follow up Leadership day in preparation for their journey into Year 12.  From all reports the camp was a huge success with the students being put their activities and challenges in a military style regime.  Problem solvers, team building, communication, combined with a lot of mud pushed the students to their limits at Emu Gully.

Upon return to PBC, the students then had a day to plan and discuss their role as the leaders of the school in 2027.  This culminated in the Year 11 Dinner at The Doonan where the students could dress up and chat with each other and the staff about the camp and their plans for Year 12.

Thanks to Mr Saunderson and Mr Puttergill for attending the camp and the dinner.

Year 9 Camp Week

I had the privilege of joining the Year 9 cohort for their camp this week in the Noosa everglades area.  The first 24 hours was spent sea-kayaking from Elanda Point to Fig Tree campground where they spent the night, before paddling back to the base camp at Elanda Point.  The Year 9’s also spent a day mountain biking and abseiling on Mt Tinbeerwah before heading back to school via a lawn bowls session and lunch at the Noosa Bowls Club.

We received some positive feedback from the staff and campers at the Habitat area where we were based complementing our students on their manners and behaviour.

Spreading Joy Beyond Our School Gates

This week, we were delighted to welcome Sonia from Sunshine Butterflies to Peregian Beach College to receive a special donation from our school community.

The donation was made possible through the gold coin donations collected during our Term 2 Joy Day — now a much-loved PBC tradition. Each year, Joy Day provides an opportunity for our students to celebrate happiness, kindness and connection, while also looking beyond our school gates to make a positive difference in our wider community. As part of this tradition, we have made a special commitment to supporting Sunshine Butterflies and the important work they do.

The donation was proudly presented by our Student Leaders on behalf of the students, families and staff of PBC. During her visit, Sonia spoke with the Student Leaders about how much Sunshine Butterflies appreciates not only the donation itself, but also the thoughtfulness and kindness behind it.

Sonia also shared more about the organisation and the ways Sunshine Butterflies supports young people with disabilities and their families, giving our Student Leaders a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the difference their contribution can make. We hope to extend this connection further next year.

It was a meaningful reminder that small acts of kindness, when shared by a whole school community, can create a positive impact well beyond our own school gates.

We are incredibly proud of our students for continuing to embrace the spirit of Joy Day and helping make kindness, connection and community an important part of the PBC tradition.

Inclusion Update

Inclusion at PBC strives to help every student feel known, supported and ready for learning – and we certainly have lots of celebrate. 

This term we have been busy preparing submissions for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). When paired with our Wellbeing Survey, this information helps our Student Services Team recognise which supports are working well with our students, and allows the team to respond to emerging needs and continue to strengthen inclusive practice across the College.

If you have a child with a Personalised Learning Plan, you’ll see we are reformatting and refreshing them in Sentral. Our aim is to make students’ supports and adjustments clear and accessible. All plans should be updated by the end of Term 4.

Across Primary, Inclusion is seen inside and outside the classroom every day. We have explicit literacy interventions, hands-on and differentiated learning and targeted support in lessons, and our Learning Coaches work alongside teachers in classrooms. 

In Secondary, we value the relationships and rapport we have with students. Our Inclusion Team is actively present in classes, assessment, playgrounds and everyday school life, helping students feel comfortable seeking support at the point of learning. As students grow, we increasingly build their independence and self-advocacy with curriculum and assessment adjustments, organisation and planning support, quiet learning spaces, access to Learning Coaches, wellbeing strategies and AARA (Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments) provisions.

Literacy and Mathematics
Our Reading Intervention Program is now in its third year, with students benefiting from MiniLit SAGE alongside InitiaLit. Our Wednesday and Friday before-school Reading Club (which started in the Quad but has moved to a new home in front of the OSHC) builds positive reading habits and connection; it’s lovely to see a Year 6 student reading with a preppie! This week, our most-committed readers celebrated the term with frozen yoghurt bar prepared by our wonderful canteen team. (Thanks Bruno!) Thanks also to Skyla and Jasi from Year 6 who volunteered to ‘man’ the yoghurt bar and serve their fellow students. 

In Years 3 and 4, SpellEx provides systematic, explicit spelling instruction, while Learning Through Doing brings Mathematics to life across the College with hands-on materials, active learning and real-world problems. Oxford Maths pre- and post-testing helps teachers identify starting points, target teaching and celebrate growth.

Wellbeing and Connection
Our HUB Clubs provide lunchtime opportunities for students to connect, create, participate and reset. Grow Your Mind and The Resilience Project, led by our Guidance Team, further strengthen emotional awareness, resilience and self-regulation across the College.

At PBC, inclusion is woven into the fabric of our school.  Through our classrooms, programs, relationships and everyday practices, we work together to remove barriers, build confidence and ensure every student can participate, belong and flourish.

Book Week Artwork

This year, our passionate  Librarian, Miss Tania and Art Teacher, Miss C chose Marc Martin’s beautiful shortlisted book Dawn as the inspiration for our Book Week art — and we have absolutely loved it.

Each year level has explored a different element of Dawn, taking inspiration from Marc’s incredible use of colour, landscape, light and visual storytelling through watercolour. Our students have then created their own pieces, which have come together in a beautiful whole-school celebration of the book.

There has been something really special about seeing one book capture the imagination of our students and inspire so much creativity across our small school. The children have loved exploring Dawn, and we have loved watching them interpret Marc’s work in their own unique ways.

Marc even had words to share, “Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story. I’m honoured that your students have been so engaged with my book – the artworks they have created are absolutely stunning”.

Library News

I had two Year 8 students ask me if they could review some library books, and so I said yes, and here they are!

**ONE PIECE VOLUME 4, 5, 6 by Eiichiro Oda**

These three volumes of One Piece were quite fun to read as we saw it was about this man, Captain Kuro from the Black Cat Pirates, and the straw hats went to him for food, shelter and a sturdy ship.

**HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE by J. K. Rowling**

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is an amazing book.  Throughout the series there is a Triwizard tournament whilst competing with a three rival Europeans by their own wizarding schools. The three had to compete in deadly challenges and it made me very excited to see who would win the tournament.

Rocket League Competition

🚗⚽ PBC In-House FUSE Cup: Rocket League! ⚽🚗

Last week, students competed in our second In-House FUSE Cup event—Rocket League! The competition featured plenty of exciting matches, impressive goals and close finishes, with students showing fantastic sportsmanship and encouragement throughout the event.

Well done to everyone who competed and supported our players. Now it’s back to training as we prepare for next year’s competitions!

We are also hoping to hold some more fun lunchtime gaming activities in Term 4 for students across all year levels—stay tuned!

Wonderful Water Cycles in Year 4! 

Year 4 have been busy exploring the water cycle in Science. Students learnt how water moves through the environment and investigated the important processes of evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection. They developed their scientific vocabulary and used diagrams and models to explain how these stages work together as a continuous cycle.

We then connected our Science learning with Design and Technologies. Students planned and designed their own water cycle dioramas, considering the materials they would need and how they could clearly represent and label each stage of the cycle. They then brought their plans to life by constructing, testing and making improvements to their designs.

To celebrate our learning, we invited other students to visit our classroom for a Water Cycle Showcase. Year 4 loved explaining their creations, sharing their knowledge and proudly showing off their fantastic finished dioramas.
