Principal’s Report
SHANE DUPUY

Welcome to 2026
The beginning of a new school year is always filled with optimism, and it has been wonderful to feel that energy across Peregian Beach College as we welcome students and families back to campus. As a college community, we are looking forward to both the academic and personal growth of our students throughout the year ahead.
We continue to set high standards for our student body and look forward to their full participation in both academic learning and our rich co-curricular programs. These opportunities are an important part of a well-rounded education, and we encourage students to engage fully in all aspects of college life. We also ask our families to support the College by ensuring their child’s regular attendance, not only on school days, but also at camps, excursions, information sessions and parent–teacher–student interviews. Strong partnerships between home and school are key to student success.
I would like to warmly welcome all new families to our friendly and supportive College community. Congratulations and thank you to all families for preparing their children so well for their return to school. Our teaching staff were genuinely impressed by how organised, well-groomed and well-resourced students were on their first day back. A special mention must go to our Prep families and those who are new to the College. Your children settled beautifully, engaging immediately with their classmates, teachers and new learning environments; a wonderful reflection of their resilience and enthusiasm.
We are also delighted to welcome several new staff members to Peregian Beach College this year. Mr Mark O’Connor joins our Secondary Humanities team, Mr Daniel Mosedale brings his expertise to Food Technologies, Hospitality and Food and Nutrition, and Mrs Sarah Jonker joins us in Performing Arts. After a rigorous selection process, we are confident these highly experienced and professional educators will bring a great depth of knowledge, enthusiasm and inspiration to our students. We also extend a warm welcome to our new groundsman, Bailey Lennon whose work helps ensure our College remains a safe, welcoming and well-presented environment for all.
At Peregian Beach College, our values continue to guide everything we do. We pride ourselves on a commonsense, community-minded approach to education, while remaining firmly focused on providing our students and families with an excellent learning experience. I look forward to working closely with you throughout the year and sharing in the many achievements and milestones that lie ahead.
I wish all members of our community a positive and rewarding year.
College Coordinator Report
ALEC WAREING

Welcome to the start of the 2026 school year at Peregian Beach College. We warmly welcome our new families to the College community and extend a welcome back to those returning. We hope everyone enjoyed a restful holiday break and is feeling refreshed and ready for the year ahead.
Housekeeping
As we begin the year, we would like to remind families of a few key housekeeping items. Students are expected to wear the school uniform correctly each day. A copy of the College Uniform Policy is available on the College website for your reference. Please also note that student supervision on campus commences at 8:15am. Prior to this time, students are asked to wait at the front of Administration.
For the wellbeing of students, families are asked not to message or contact students directly during school hours. Should you need to pass on a message or speak with your child during the school day, please do so through the Administration team, who will ensure communication is managed appropriately.
If you have any questions or queries throughout the year, your first point of contact should be your child’s homeroom teacher (Secondary) or classroom teacher (Primary). For matters that are more urgent or confidential, families are encouraged to contact the relevant coordinator: Nicola Kerin (Primary) or Nigel McDuff (Secondary).
Learning Management System Update
In 2026, Peregian Beach College will begin transitioning away from our current Learning Management System, Daymap. This will be a progressive rollout, with Schoolbox—referred to as the PBC Portal—becoming our new LMS. Families will receive updates and further information as this transition unfolds throughout the year.
R.I.S.E.
As we commence the new school year, we also take the opportunity to reflect on our core College values. Reflective Practice encourages us to think critically about our learning and continually seek improvement. Inclusivity reminds us to value diversity and ensure every member of our community feels respected and supported. Through Service of Others, we foster empathy, responsibility, and contribution beyond ourselves. Finally, Excellence inspires us to strive for our personal best in all that we do.
We look forward to a positive and productive year ahead and thank you for your ongoing support of our College community.
Primary School Coordinator Report
NICOLA KERIN

Welcome Back to Primary at Peregian Beach College
Welcome back to a new school year at Peregian Beach College. I hope all our students and families enjoyed a safe, restful break and are feeling refreshed and ready for the year ahead. The start of a new year always brings a sense of excitement, possibility and renewed energy, and it has been wonderful to see our classrooms once again filled with smiling faces, curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
A very warm welcome to the many new students and families joining our Primary community this year. Starting at a new school is a significant milestone, and we are delighted to have you as part of PBC. Our staff are committed to creating a supportive, inclusive and engaging environment where every child feels known, valued and confident to learn. We look forward to working closely with you as partners in your child’s education and wellbeing.
I would also like to extend a special welcome to our Prep students, who have settled into school life with confidence and enthusiasm. This positive start is a wonderful reflection of our Prep transition program, which supports students and families to feel prepared, connected and excited about beginning their learning journey at PBC. It has been a joy to see our youngest learners arrive each day with smiles, curiosity and growing independence.
As we begin the year, we would like to remind families of the importance of a consistent morning routine and arriving at school on time. The first 10 minutes of the school day are vital for setting students up for success, allowing them to settle into the classroom, connect with their teacher and peers, and engage positively with learning from the outset. Your support in ensuring students arrive punctually each day makes a significant difference to their learning and wellbeing.
Throughout the year, students will be encouraged to demonstrate our RISE values—Reflective Practice, Inclusivity, Service of Others and Excellence—while striving to be safe, respectful learners who take pride in themselves and our community. I look forward to an exciting year of learning, growth and connection and wish all our families a fantastic start to 2026 at Peregian Beach College.
Guidance Services
HAYLEY CLIFTON & JACQUI VOS

A Warm Welcome from the Guidance Officers
As we begin a new school year, the Guidance Officers would like to warmly welcome all students and families back to school. The start of the year is an important time for connection, settling in, and building strong foundations for both learning and wellbeing. We look forward to working in partnership with students, families and staff throughout the year.
Guidance Officers support students’ social, emotional, wellbeing and learning needs in a range of ways. In addition to responding to individual student needs, we play an active role in proactive and preventative wellbeing support across the school. This includes coordinating our whole-school wellbeing framework, working alongside staff to promote inclusive, consistent practices that support students to feel safe, engaged and ready to learn.
We also facilitate targeted small group programs to support students’ wellbeing and learning. These groups may focus on skills such as emotional regulation, resilience, confidence, friendship skills, attention, organisation, problem-solving and learning readiness.
As part of our proactive wellbeing work, we coordinate a whole-school wellbeing day each term. These days provide opportunities for students to engage in shared learning and activities that promote inclusion, connection and positive relationships. Across the year, this includes events such as Harmony Day, Joy Day, the National Day Against Bullying and Violence, and Kindness Day.
Guidance Officers work as part of the Student Services Team and in close partnership with the Leaning Enhancement Team, collaborating with staff and families to respond to student support needs. Through this collaborative approach, we work together to determine appropriate supports for students, ensuring responses are coordinated, timely and tailored to individual needs.
Both Guidance Officers are dually qualified, registered teachers and psychologists, bringing expertise in education, learning and child and adolescent development to our work with students, staff and families.
If you have concerns about your child’s wellbeing or learning, the best first point of contact is your child’s classroom or homeroom teacher. Teachers know students well in their day-to-day learning environment and can help determine next steps. Where appropriate, they will work with families and the school to access additional support, including referral to the Guidance Officer.
Helpful start-of-year wellbeing and learning resources are included below. These resources provide practical tips for building positive friendships, supporting sleep and self-care, and developing effective study and time-management habits to support a positive start to the year.
Kind regards,
Hayley Clifton & Jacqui Vos

School Photos
School Photo Day is coming up, and we ask families to please take note of the uniform requirements to ensure students are presented neatly and consistently in their photographs.
-
Prep to Year 6 students are to wear their PE uniform.
-
Year 7 to Year 12 students are required to wear their formal College uniform. Formal uniform must be worn for photographs.
We ask that all students adhere strictly to the uniform policy on Photo Day.
Please also note that students with hair that touches the shoulders must have it neatly tied back.
Thank you for your support in helping our students look their best on the day.

Inclusion Support Update – 2026
Our Inclusion Team works alongside teachers to ensure learning is accessible for all students. We provide in-class support for literacy and numeracy, and use targeted scaffolding and practical strategies that help students understand key concepts and demonstrate their learning. We also support Grow Your Mind (GYM). The Resilience Project (TRP) and Mind and Movement sessions, supporting students’ engagement, wellbeing, and participation in school routines.
During break times, we run supported activities across all year levels. The HUB Activity Roster (P–12) is released regularly and updated as needed to reflect student needs and staffing.
Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs)
Some students have a Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) in place. A PLP is a working document that outlines the supports and strategies used at school to help students access learning with confidence and consistency. All PLPs have been shared with relevant staff to ensure continuity of support.
In 2026, PLPs are being refined into a shorter, more concise document, aligning with Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) requirements and the new Child Safe Standards. This ensures plans remain clear, purposeful, and focused on supporting students effectively.
PLP Timeline for 2026
New students requiring a PLP: meetings will occur in Term 1
Further changes to existing PLPs: addressed in Term 1
Year 11 students: PLP reviews will take place in Term 1 to align with senior assessment requirements
All other students: PLP review meetings will be scheduled in Term 2
Families will be contacted directly where a meeting is required.
NCCD Information
The NCCD is collected nationally in August each year and helps governments better understand school resource requirements and how support is provided to students across Australian schools. PBC provides this information to the NCCD. As a parent, there’s nothing you need to do. You can find out more on the NCCD website.
At PBC, our focus remains on working collaboratively with with families to support students to engage with learning and school life.
Performing Arts

Hello families!
My name is Sarah Jonker (known to students as Mrs Jonker or Mrs J), and I’m so excited to be teaching Performing Arts at our school this year.
Our music program is expanding to include Drama, and together these subjects will now be known as Performing Arts. Drama plays a big role in helping students build confidence, creativity, communication skills and empathy — all while having a lot of fun. I’m thrilled to be bringing more drama-based learning into the school and watching students explore, imagine and create.
As this is a brand-new program, we’re starting from scratch with costumes and props. If families have any items at home they no longer need, we would love your help building a small Performing Arts collection. Because students usually perform in their school uniforms, we’re especially looking for accessories that can be worn over uniforms rather than full costumes.
Items we’d love include:
-
Hats, jackets, scarves, bags
-
Masks, capes, glasses, vests
-
Random and interesting objects that spark imagination — an old (non-working) telephone, camera, binoculars, a funny-looking teapot, a paper fan, or even a pretend fish!
We kindly ask that donated items are not easily broken, as they will be used regularly by students.
Donations can be placed in the baskets at the front office.
Thank you for helping us bring Performing Arts to life at our school — I can’t wait to see what the students create!
Warmly,
Mrs Jonker
Performing Arts Teacher
