English
English
At Peregian Beach College, English is a cornerstone of our curriculum from Prep through to Year 12. In the early years (Prep–Year 2), we implement InitiaLit and MiniLit, evidence-based programs grounded in the Science of Reading. These explicit and structured literacy approaches ensure every child builds a strong foundation in reading, writing and phonics, setting students up for long-term success.
As students progress through primary and into secondary school, they deepen their understanding of language and its purpose across a range of contexts. They explore classic and contemporary literature, analyse media texts, and craft their own creative, persuasive, and analytical writing.
In Years 11 and 12, students can choose from General English or Literature, allowing them to tailor their learning to suit their interests and future pathways. In some instances students are able to complete a Literacy Short Course. Across all year levels, our English program fosters critical thinking, effective communication, and a lifelong appreciation for language and storytelling.

Health & Physical Education
HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Health and Physical Education
Health and Physical Education provides students with an experiential curriculum that is contemporary, relevant, challenging and physically active. Movement is a powerful medium for learning, through which students can practise and refine personal, behavioural, social and cognitive skills.
The Health and Physical Education curriculum supports students to develop knowledge understanding and skills to enhance their own and others’ health, wellbeing, safety and physical activity participation. Students develop skills to manage their emotions and understand the physical and social changes that are occurring for them. The content provides opportunities for students to contribute to building a positive school environment that supports healthy, safe and active choices for everyone. Students also explore a range of factors and behaviours that can influence health, safety and wellbeing.
