Each class at the College from Kindy to Year 6 has a 50 minute lesson per week.
The music program is inspired by the Kodály philosophy and is a sequential, student-centred music literacy program. The singing-based course concentrates on the development of creative, melodic, rhythmic, harmonic, listening, literacy and performance skills.  An emphasis is placed on the introduction of signs, names and symbols to provide students with music notation skills. Rhythmic time names, solfa and hand signs are used to help students express what they are hearing, reading and writing and to encourage in-tune singing.

Years 7 and 8 students are offered music as part of their required course selections to introduce students to the various aspects of the Performing Arts.  Students explore guitar, piano, percussion and voice as well as developing note and rhythmic reading skills. It is an interactive curriculum that encourages students to be hands on” with the material they are learning and to develop their music skills to a higher level. Students will also create and compose music with a computer generated composition program.

Years 9 and 10 are offered optional Music and have the further opportunity to create music using various sequencing software. Students explore instrumentation and vocal genres and much of the curriculum is performance based. Students explore Blues, Jazz, Negro Spirituals, Classical and Rock. Students continue to fine tune their rhythmic and melodic skills to further develop musicianship.

Year 11 and 12 students have the opportunity to study Senior Music which is a QSA approved program and therefore will contribute to their O.P. The Senior program explores Australian Rock and Roll, Movies and Music, Choral and Instrumental Music, Classical music and Jazz. Students are assessed on performance, composition and analytical techniques.

The instrumental program is extensive and conducted by a team of skilled and experienced staff. At present we offer voice, violin, piano, guitar, bass and drums to students from Year P-12. Private music students present Music Recitals throughout the year that are widely attended and a popular event of the College. The main goals of the music program are for students to develop sound musical skills and through their engagement in music, develop a life-long appreciation of music.

Individuals
The individual tuition program provides students with an option of a one-on-one lesson with an expert instructor.  The individually, pedagogically-designed programs are devised to strengthen technique and expand musical expression.

Students and parents are informed of events through notices, the school diary, intranet and the newsletter.

Every student from Kindy - 12 has the opportunity to participate and shine in our biennial School Musical and other co-curricular activities. Through their experiences in the musical, students also learn the values of teamwork, dedication and empathy, developing both interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.

Peregian Beach College has presented The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music, Back to the 80s,  A Night at The Video Store, and Hercules.
